MASSENA -- The U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will visit Massena to recognize Seaway employees who responded to a crash in June that injured 19 passengers aboard a cruise ship.

The visit will be closed to the public.

On Oct. 20, U.S. Transportation Secretary Anthony Foxx will be in Massena, New York to tour St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC) facilities and transit Eisenhower Lock aboard the SLSDC tug, Robinson Bay.

He will receive a tour of the SLSDC’s Asset Renewal Program infrastructure project work and the Vessel Traffic Control (VTC) facility.

Following the tour, Secretary Foxx will join Administrator Betty Sutton in a Seaway Appreciation and Recognition Ceremony at the Eisenhower Lock.

They will be recognizing the many North Country local and regional emergency responders, as well as SLSDC employees, who joined together to respond to the June 2015 Saint Laurent vessel incident at the Eisenhower Lock.
