The U.S. Coast Guard, which oversees the St. Lawrence Seaway, is seeking public input on entry level, skill-based, manually propelled boat operation standards.
A team of experts, assembled with grant funding, has launched a survey to gather input from paddlers and rowers.
The National On-Water Standards Team is seeking a set of standards to assess the performance of human propelled boating skills at the entry level.
“This is a chance for Great Lakes paddle enthusiasts at all experience levels to have their voices heard and help make paddling safer,” said Mike Baron, Recreational Boating and Water Safety program manager for the Coast Guard’s ninth district.
The survey is available at www.research.net/s/humanv1nationalcontentsurvey through Aug. 30.
