Unseasonably warm temperatures, possibly record breaking, expected to bring rain to North Country Wednesday

A low pressure system is expected to move through the North Country tonight and into Thursday, bringing unseasonably high temperatures, according to the National Weather Service.

Temperatures are expected to reach as high as 54 degrees Wednesday, dipping back into the 30s on Thursday.

A 54 degree temperature would set a new record, with the current high temperature record of 49 degrees set in 1988, according to Weather Underground.

A series of more low pressure systems is expected to follow over the next several days.

A high pressure system may moved into the area over the weekend, but precipitation and higher than normal temperatures are expected through Thursday, the service says.

Rain showers are expected to accompany the warmer temperatures, according to the weather service. The rain is expected to transition back into snow on Thursday.

Snowy conditions and temperatures in the high teens to mid-twenties are expected to reign this weekend, the service predicts.
