United Helpers' Sparx Corporation now managing Canton Enriched Housing program

CANTON -- The United Helpers’ Sparx Corporation has assumed management responsibilities at the Canton Enriched Housing program.

The program is housed within the Canton Housing Authority apartments.

“Enriched housing is an important community service as it focuses on helping individuals to maintain a safe and healthy lifestyle at home,” said Todd Amo, director of operations for Sparx.

The program has been in operation since 1983 and is regulated by the state Department of Health. It currently provides safe, affordable housing and support services for 25 residents.

Private efficiency, one or two bedroom and handicap-suitable units are available. All apartments are furnished with major appliances.

Accommodations and room type are determined at the time of admission based on need. Residents are responsible for furnishing the apartment.

The program offers support services, including personal care, housekeeping, assistance with medications, and case management.

“The support services that are provided by the Enriched Housing Program are so important to our residents,” said Kathy Race, administrator. “They are the supports people need to live safely on their own.”
