United Helpers gains second vestibular therapist for Canton and Ogdensburg clinics

United Helpers now has two physical therapists certified in vestibular therapy and is now able to offer appointments five days a week in Canton and Ogdensburg.

Brittany Wieszczyk, a physical therapist at United Helpers, is now offering vestibular rehabilitation, giving United Helpers two physical therapists certified in vestibular therapy.

Wieszczyk joins Brett Amo in offering the service. Amo has been a vestibular therapist for 20 years.

“I’ve been interested in vestibular therapy since I was a student here and learned about it from Brett,” Wieszczyk said.

Vestibular rehabilitation consists of a series of exercises, some of which can be done at home with the goal of alleviating balance and dizziness issues that come as a result of a vestibular disorder, such as vertigo.

“Sometimes these issues can be resolved in only one visit,” Amo said.

If someone is experiencing symptoms of vertigo, Wieszczyk said, “the best thing to do is talk to your doctor, get a prescription, and then call us to set up an appointment.”

With the addition of Wieszczyk to the team, United Helpers is now able to offer vestibular therapy five days a week in either Canton or Ogdensburg.

“It’s been great having Brittany see some of these patients,” Amo said, noting the addition to the vestibular rehabilitation team ensures that a therapist will be available in either Canton or Ogdensburg five days a week.
