CANTON -- The Unitarian Universalist Church, East Main Street, has kicked off a $250,000 capital campaign. The “Under One Roof” campaign is led by co-chairs Pete and Kathy Wyckoff and honorary co-chairs Peter and Becky Van de Water.

The campaign is to replace the church roof and make needed improvements in the sanctuary and church kitchen. Funds will also be used to replenish the church’s capital reserve fund, which is used to cover ongoing capital improvements.

“Our church has a rich history,” says the Minister Reverend David S. Blanchard. “Those of us who are the current congregational inhabitants of 3 ½ East Main Street treasure the heritage we have inherited and the home we are creating together. It is our turn to preserve our heritage and maintain our home.”

The campaign began with advanced fundraising before the kickoff. According to the Wyckoffs, “The results of these early appeals have been terrific, they have exceeded our expectations. We were thrilled to announce at the kickoff on Sunday that we are approximately 80 percent of the way to our goal of $250,000.” Additional members and friends will be canvassed for support to reach the goal of the campaign. Blanchard notes, “Financial pledges of support to the ‘Under One Roof’ campaign are a measure of our members’ and friends’ devotion and dedication to this church and its congregation.”
