St. Lawrence County's unemployment rate for April dropped a half-point from March, but remains above 10 percent, but it is down a half-point from March.
State Department of Labor figures released today show the county's rate of unemployed workers at 10.4 percent, down from 10.9 percent for March, and lower than the 10.6 percent reported for April 2010.
The April rate puts St. Lawrence County unemployment rate once again at the top of upstate counties.
In neighboring Jefferson County, the rate dropped a full percentage point from March to April, from 10.9 to 9.9 percent.
In Franklin County, the rate dropped from March at 9.3 percent to 9.1 percent in April.
Only New York City's Bronx County's 11.5 percent rate of unemployed workers exceeded the rate in St. Lawrence County.
