CANTON – A Gouverneur woman and two women in the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility face drug and contraband charges after jail officers allegedly spotted an exchange taking place at about noon today.
The county Sheriff’s Office was called in after corrections officers allegedly saw drugs changing hands inside the jail.
Deputies said that Bridget L. Prashaw-Silva, 27, 85 Depot St., Gouverneur, introduced narcotics into the jail during a visit with inmate Matisha L. Wineglass, 31, who then allegedly passed the drugs on to another inmate, Jessica L. Prashaw, 31.
Prashaw-Silva has been charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, first-degree introducing dangerous contraband into a prison, and fourth-degree conspiracy, all felony counts.
Wineglass was charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of dangerous contraband in a prison, and fourth-degree conspiracy, all felonies.
Jessica Prashaw was charged with first-degree possession of dangerous contraband in a prison, and fourth-degree conspiracy, both felonies, and misdemeanor seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Prashaw and Wineglass are currently held in other matters and will be produced in Canton Village Court at a later date to answer the charges.
Prashaw-Silva was arraigned before Village Justice William Galvin and was ordered held on $1,500 bail pending further court action.
