CANTON – Two SUNY Canton students have been charged with possessing half a pound of pot after the vehicle they were in was stopped by Canton police for an alleged vehicle and traffic violation early Monday.
The St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force officer who made the arrest said that the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department’s K9, Hershey, was brought in after the vehicle was stopped for allegedly lacking a license plate lamp. The dog conducted a “sniff” of the car and alerted officers to the possible presence of a drug.
Investigators said 7.9 ounces of pot were found in the vehicle.
Charged were Eric J. Noble, 20, of 340 Butternut Dr., Newburgh, and William H. Jimenez, 18, 1422 Nelson Ave, Bronx, both with fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.
Noble was also charged with the plate lamp violation and unlawful possession of alcohol.
The two will be in court on April 10, when investigators say more charges will be made.
