Two members of the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Department attended the New York State Sheriffs’ Association Institute's 14th Annual Road Patrol and Law Enforcement Supervisors’ Training Conference in Saratoga Springs.

Shown above are Brandon Storie, left, and Ryan Shelly, right, accepting their certification of achievement from Rensselaer County Sheriff Jack Mahar.

This year, the law enforcement supervisors heard presentations on topics such as post-traumatic stress disorder in law enforcement agencies; execution of federal immigration detainers; school safety issues; the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center; programs at the Governors’ Traffic Safety Committee; crime statistics and other programs at the Division of Criminal Justice Services; the State’s DNA databank; animal cruelty investigations; and New York’s new strangulation law.
