MASSENA -- Voters here will settle a three-way race for two Town Council seats in the Nov. 3 general election. Meanwhile, candidates for town clerk and town justice face no opposition on the ballot.

Democrats Thomas Miller and Steven O'Shaughnessy will run for town board, along with Republican Raymond J. Fenton Jr.

Miller, a former Massena fire chief, is finishing an unexpired term vacated by former Councilman Robert Cunningham in 2013. The position is now up for election.

O'Shaughnessy and Fenton are newcomers.

The other board seat up for grabs belongs to Councilman John Macaulay, who is not seeking re-election after nearly two decades at the post.

Democrat Pat Serguson and Republican Pamela Catanzarite are running unopposed for respective town justice and clerk offices.

Serguson, who now serves on the Massena Central Board of Education, is running unopposed for current Justice Gerald Sharlow's seat. Both are former village police officers.

Catanzarite, who is now deputy clerk and is facing no opposition, is looking to take the post now filled by her boss, Town Clerk Georgette Davis, who is not seeking another term. She has held the office since the mid-1990s and is retiring.
