WASHINGTON -- Two St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation (SLSDC) employees from Massena were honored by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Anthony Foxx at the Department of Transportation (DOT) Secretary’s Award Ceremony held at DOT headquarters.

Chief of Procurement and Supply Patricia White received a Meritorious Achievement Award in recognition of exceptionally meritorious service to the department.

Leader/Tug Master Danny Brabon of the SLSDC’s Marine Division received the Secretary’s Excellence Award, given to federal employees who have achieved outstanding performance in all aspects of their work and deserve special commendation.

White has served as the SLSDC’s sole contracting officer since 2007 and is directly responsible for managing the SLSDC’s complex infrastructure-related procurement requirements. SLSDC Administrator Betty Sutton said, “Ms. White deserves this recognition as she continuously meets the contracting challenges we face through sound decision making, contracting expertise, and exceptional leadership.” White was also recognized as part of a Team Award for their work on implementing a new department-wide certification and training program.

Danny Brabon received the Excellence Award for his skill and expertise in the operation of the agency’s marine equipment and his attentiveness to safety issues for the marine crew and for the environment. Administrator Sutton noted, “Due to Mr. Brabon’s efforts overseeing the SLSDC’s buoy recovery and deployment operations in the waterway, the SLSDC continues to meet or exceed our performance goal of 99 percent availability for transiting vessels.”
