The Massena Village Board of Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday night to promote two village police officers.
Patrolmen Mark W. Englert and Andy L. Richards were elevated to the rank of sergeant.
Englert has been with Massena’s police force for 14 years and has been serving as acting sergeant since February 25, according to a memorandum from Chief Timothy Currier. He resides in Massena.
Richards has been in law enforcement for six years, serving with the Ogdensburg Village Police from April 2007 until June 2012, according to Currier’s memo. He also resides in Massena.
Each will be paid $30.78 per hour.
The memo adds that Currier is working on adding a third investigator to his squad, which he plans on doing in the near future.
