MADRID – Two sisters have been chosen as state finalists for the National American Miss New York State Pageant to be held Aug. 23-25 in Rochester.
Emily Mae Sochia, 10, and Bethany Marie Sochia, 13, daughters of Kathy Sochia, will be participating in the pre-teen age division.
The winner of the pageant will receive a $1,000 cash award, the official crown and banner, a bouquet of roses and air transportation to compete in the national pageant in California. Each year the national pageant awards $1.5 million in cash, scholarships and other prizes, including a new Ford Mustang convertible.
Pageant officials say the competition is based on “inner beauty as well as poise and presentation.”
Emily enjoys acting, swimming, camping, bike riding and taking care of her horse. Bethany enjoys modeling, swimming, camping, bike riding and taking care of her horse.
Sponsors for the girls include Fockler Industries, Coach Tavern, Dishaw’s Drywall and friends and family.
