St. Lawrence County sheriff's detectives and Drug Task Force members say they charged James P. Pike II, 31, of 36 Justina St., Heuvelton and Erin A. Irvine, 33, of 815 Morris St., Ogdensburg each with first- and second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police said during a traffic stop that night around 10:25 p.m., their K9 Fable alerted to drugs inside a 2015 Dodge Durango the pair were operating.

Police said they found over 750 grams of cocaine, 120 grams of heroin and $13,000 U.S. currency.

Detectives say through their lengthy investigation, they believe Pike and his associates would travel to the New York City area and pick up large amounts of cocaine and heroin and distribute it to the Ogdensburg and Heuvelton areas.

Both Pike and Irvine were arraigned in Oswegatchie Town Court by Justice Matthew Denner and were remanded to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, without bail pending a Sept. 10 appearance.

The investigation into Pike and Irvine is ongoing and that more arrests are possible, police said.

Sheriff’s detectives were assisted by the St. Lawrence County District Attorney’s Office, U.S. Department of Homeland Security Investigations Border Enforcement Task Force (BEST), the Ogdensburg Police Department and the Metro Jeff Drug Task Force out of Watertown.
