MASSENA -- Two people were injured following an accident involving a state trooper in Massena at 3:10 a.m. Monday.
Trooper Joshua S. Foster, 31, was traveling west on State Route 37 in the village of Massena in a marked 2016 Dodge Charger, to assist U.S. Border Patrol with a call in progress.[img_assist|nid=176890|title=|desc=|link=none|align=right|width=275|height=241]
Foster’s vehicle entered the intersection of State Highway 37 and Main Street in the village of Massena with the emergency lights activated, and proceeded through the red light.
Carly M. Benedict, 26, of Ontario, Canada, was driving a 2014 Dodge Avenger and was traveling north on Main Street.
Benedict proceeded through the green light at the intersection, and struck Foster's patrol vehicle.
Foster and Benedict were both transported to Massena Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
This collision is still under investigation.
