CANTON – Two people were hurt, including a child, when two pickup trucks collided in Canton yesterday.
St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s deputies say they are investigating an allegation that one driver was intoxicated.
Harvey G. Tupper, 87, of 152 North Rd., Hermon, had stopped at the stop sign at Little River Road and Pick Schoolhouse Road, and had pulled out onto Pink Schoolhouse Road when his truck was struck by another driven by Rtichie W. Baxter, 33, 1052 Rt. 21, Hermon, according to deputies.
The investigation concluded that Baxter could not avoid striking Tupper’s truck.
A juvenile passenger sustained head lacerations, and Tupper sustained head trauma, and both were taken to Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Responding to the scene were Pyrites and Canton fire and rescue units.
The investigation continues and charges are pending.
