The Ogdensburg Fire Department and Police Department responded at about 12:15 a.m. March 30 to a report of a vehicle fire in Wheathouse Bay.
The fire department quickly extinguished the flames, and an investigation was immediately started due to the fire’s suspicious nature, according to OPD Det. Sgt. Mark Kearns.
The vehicle was determined to have been stolen from the Syracuse area. By midmorning suspects were developed and evidence was obtained to make two arrests, Kearns said.

Eric T. Jeffers, 19, 24 South Ave., Cortland was arrested for alleged fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a Class E felony.
Both teens were arraigned by Judge Gary Alford in Ogdensburg City Court and held in the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond.
The investigation was conducted by Firefighter Joe Sovie, Sgt. Matthew Erwin and Detective Jason Streeter.
The Ogdensburg Police Department was assisted on scene by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit.
