Twin Brooks Golf course hosting grand opening of ‘The Next Round’ restaurant in Waddington.
By JIMMY LAWTON
WADDINGTON – The Twin Brooks Golf course is hosting a grand opening of ‘The Next Round’ restaurant today.
Owners Shannon and Eli Gaurin took over operations of the course a couple of years ago and are celebrating the business’s 50th year by expanding the food menu.
Shannon Guarin said she is a third-generation owner of the course that was established in 1964 for her grandfather Larry Thomas, who built the business from the ground up.
The Next Round offers a variety of food including breakfast, lunch and dinner menus. Subs and paninis are among the offerings, but the restaurant’s real focus is on the pizza.
Gaurin said the pizza is handmade from fresh ingredients and will rival any of the North Country’s pizza options.
“Canton and Potsdam have quality and now Waddington does too,” she said.
The Next Round will also offer free delivery in Waddington and delivery in surrounding towns within a 10-mile radius for a small fee.
The restaurant will be open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 8:30 to 1:30 p.m. and from 4 to 9 p.m. On Fridays and Saturdays The Next Round will be open until 11 p.m. On Sundays the restaurant will close at 10 p.m.
Gaurin said the expansion was made possible with help from volunteers and friends and involved a lot of work.
“We really couldn’t have done it without support from the community,” she said.
The expansion has also helped create some new positions. Guarin said the course now employs about 10 people and will add jobs as needed. She said it also created winter work for employees who used to work during the golf season only.
The Next Round is located at 91 Franklin Road, Waddington. For more information call 388-4480.
