POTSDAM — A group of 12 high school students from Potsdam and Canton are looking to attend the Women’s March on Washington Jan. 21 and are raising money to the trip.
As part of a senior project, Jillian Todd of Potsdam Central is organizing the trip that will see a dozen local girls attend the march. Three teachers will also attend the trip.
The group is joining with women from the Unitarian Universalist Church in Canton to travel to Washington D.C. on a coach bus.
The cost of the trip is $135 per student. Any remaining money will be used for the chaperones or to pay for meals during the trip.
Todd created a GoFundMe page with a goal of $2,025.

“The goal of this project is to promote civic engagement in girls my age,” Todd says on the GoFundMe page. “This will be a very fulfilling learning experience for everyone involved.”
As of Tuesday morning $415 had been raised by nine people in three days.
