St. Lawrence County residents will have access to new television station featuring classic shows Thursday.

United Communications Corporation {UCC), the parent company of CBS affiliate WWNY and Fox affiliate WNYF, says the MeTV North Country will launch and be available to viewers this Thursday.

The channel will be available over the air on 28.2 and on Time Warner on channel 1250 with basic and other TV packages, and on Slic Network Solutions in St. Lawrence County on channel 26.

Talks are ongoing with both DISH and DirecTV and UCC is urging customers of these services to call their provider for the service. Me TV carries classic television with an extensive library of favorites like The Andy Griffith Show, M*A*S*H, Perry Mason, CHIPS, Bonanza, The Twilight Zone, Hogan's Heroes, Star Trek, I love Lucy, and dozens of others. The network is seen in more than 96 percent of all U.S. households with 177 affiliates.

"We continue with our strong commitment to the community of Watertown and Northern New York both on air and online in providing the best in news, information, sports, and entertainment programming. Me TV North Country is the ideal complement we have added with our viewers' in mind," said Lucy Brown, president and CEO of UCC.

Ed Bassler, general manager of WWNY and WNYF, said, “Since we announced our plans to bring Me TV to the North Country earlier this year the response from viewers and advertisers has been overwhelming. All of us here at our stations are very proud and excited to bring this channel to our viewers and provide a family safe environment of classic TV that has not only entertained for generations but that a whole new generation is discovering for the very first time."
