TUPPER LAKE -- The Village of Tupper Lake has issued a boil water order following a breakdown in the village’s chlorine disinfection treatment.
Residents have been instructed to boil all water from the village water supply used for drinking and cooking.
“Bring all water to a boil in a clean container, let it boil for one minute, and let it cool before using, use bottle water certified by NYSDOH, or use water from a public water system approved by NYSDOH,” said Jules W. Callaghan, district director, who signed the order.
Boiled water should be used for drinking, ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and food preparation until the order is lifted, Callaghan said.
Residents will be notified when the advisory is lifted. The order shall be lifted after two consecutive daily samples with no bacteriological contamination.
