Truck driver with BAC three times the legal limit charged with aggravated DWI in Potsdam

POTSDAM – Reports of an erratic truck driver on Market Street at 9:45 p.m. Wednesday resulted in Potsdam Village Police pulling over a Parish man who allegedly had three times the legal blood alcohol level.

Police charged Menzo T. Wright, 50, Parish, with aggravated driving while intoxicated, driving while intoxicated, failure to keep right and crossing hazard markings.

Police report they received a complaint from a community member about a truck possibly being operated by an intoxicated driver on Market Street.

Patrols located Wright and took him into custody.

A chemical test revealed he had a blood alcohol content of .25 percent, above the .08 legal limit and also above the .18 percent threshold for aggravated DWI.

He was issued appearance tickets for village court on Sept. 7.
