The New York State Police say they continue to search for the two convicted murderers who escaped from the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora.

On Sunday, they released photos of the prisoners’ tattoos, which can be seen at the bottom of this story.

State police have been investigating the escape of 35-year old David P. Sweat and 49-year old Richard Matt since Saturday.

Troopers say in conjunction with Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS), the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), Forest Rangers, U.S. Marshals, and the FBI, are conducting grid searches to ensure a thorough search of the ground is completed.

More than 150 leads have been developed since the escape was reported. State police, DOCCS and federal investigators, as well as surrounding agencies are following up on each lead. State and federal agencies are using aircraft.

Troopers have about 100 people on the case including uniform, investigative and specialty units actively searching and following leads. State police say they continue to coordinate with several other agencies. More than 250 corrections and law enforcement officers are involved in the region and additional investigators are working statewide and nationally. All available assets are involved in this effort, according to state police.

Troopers say the two escapees are very dangerous. They ask that the public make no hesitation to report any suspicious activity.

People can contact 911, a local law enforcement agency, or the New York State Police to report any information related to this investigation at (518) 563-3761 or 1-800-448-3847.
