POTSDAM -- A Potsdam man who is prohibited from buying firearms was arrested for attempting to buy a 20 gauge shotgun from Walmart, 7494 U.S. Highway 11, according to St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputies.
Jed J. Saucier, 60, was charged with second-degree attempted criminal contempt and offering a false instrument for filing, deputies said.
On June 3, Saucier allegedly attempted to purchase the gun even though a family court order of protection that prohibited him from possessing of buying firearms. The court order was reportedly issued on Feb. 24. 2014.
He was also charged for filing false information on the paperwork with the U.S. Department of Justice Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
He was issued an appearance ticker returnable to Potsdam Town Court at a later date, officers said.
