He was arraigned this afternoon in St. Lawrence County Court on an indictment charging him with second-degree murder, according to District Attorney Gary Pasqua.

Hebert pleaded not guilty and was remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, the DA said.

In a prepared statement, Pasqua said Hebert is alleged "to have intentionally caused the death of then 25 year old Lacey Leigh Yekel, on or about June 7, 2014."

On Aug. 29, 2014, a body that police described at the time as “partially wrapped” was found across from the NYSARC bottle return, off state Route 420. It turned out to be Yekel.

Hebert's arrest comes of the heels of a nearly four-year investigation that included "hundreds of and other investigative steps."

In his statement, Pasqua expressed gratitude to New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation and their Violent Crimes Investigation Team and Forensic Identification Unit "for making it possible to proceed here, years after the murder is alleged to have occurred."
