BRASHER -- State police say they are investigating a stabbing that occurred early Friday morning at 1342 County Route 55.
A male owner of the residence and two females were reportedly sitting at the residence near a campfire around 1:37 a.m. when he observed a male subject standing behind the house.
Troopers say the homeowner retrieved a .223/.20 gauge shotgun rifle combination from his residence and returned to area where he last saw the subject. A physical altercation ensued where the homeowner was stabbed several times in the left shoulder with an unknown weapon.
The homeowner reportedly responded by discharging one round from the long gun in the direction of the subject, who was fleeing the scene into a wooded area.
The homeowner suffered superficial injuries and declined medical attention at the scene, officers said.
An immediate search of the wooded area by troopers and a K9 revealed no injured subjects from the gunshot, police said.
State police have identified a male subject who had been in the area at the time of the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
