MASSENA -- State troopers have identified a partially wrapped body found off state Route 420 on Aug. 29.
Troopers say the deceased is Lacey L. Yekel, 25, who resided in the Massena area.
Yekel had not been reported as missing prior to the discovery of her body, troopers said.
Police say they are still trying to determine the cause and manner of death.
Dr. Michael Sikirica performed an autopsy on the cadaver at Albany Medical Center.
The incident has not been ruled a homicide, but police are searching for information regarding Yekel's disappearance and death.
On Aug. 29, a body was recovered of of State Rt. 420 in the Town of Massena.
At the time the body was too decomposed to make an identification and investigators were searching through missing persons data to look for clues. The body was subsequently said to be that of a female, but nothing more was said by investigators.
Anyone with information concerning Lacey Yekel is asked to call the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigations at 897-2000.
