New York State Police say they continue to investigate leads in the search for two escaped Clinton Correctional Facility inmates, David Sweat, 34, and Ricahrd Matt, 48.
Leads continue to be generated along the Clinton and Essex County border and residents will notice an increased police presence in this area, troopers said.
Various area news outlets are reporting the investigation is focusing on Willsboro.
Members of law enforcement will go door-to-door in and around the surrounding area and checking homes and seasonal residences. If members of the public see anything unusual upon arriving at their residence or seasonal homes, troopers ask them to contact law enforcement immediately.
Troopers say they have deployed all available assets in an effort to ensure the safety of the public.
More than 440 corrections and law enforcement officers are involved in the region.
In addition to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision, the FBI, U.S. Marshals and U.S. Customs and Border Protection are also assisting in the manhunt.
Several employees, both uniform and civilian of the Clinton Correctional Facility have been interviewed in the investigation, but no arrests have been made, troopers said.
State police say the public should make no hesitation to report any suspicious activity, including any sign of a trespass, burglary or vehicle larceny. They say people should contact 911, local law enforcement agency or the New York State Police to report any information related to this investigation at (518) 563-3761 or 1-800-GIVETIP.
