A statewide crackdown netted 52 driving while intoxicated tickets in the North Country, but only one was issued in St. Lawrence County, according to state police.
The crackdown lasted from Aug. 21 to Sept. 7.
A total of 121 tickets were issued in Zone 2, which includes St. Lawrence County.
Tickets issued included one DWI, 29 speeding tickets and four seatbelt tickets. The remainder of tickets issued in the St. Lawrence County Area were violations and traffic infractions, according to state police public information officer Kyle Otis.
In the troop B area, which includes St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton, Essex and Hamilton counties 52 DWIs were issued as well as 1,192 speeding tickets, 76 distracted driving tickets, 140 child restraint tickets, 14 move over tickets.
Statewide, troopers report that of the 769 DWI arrests between the Aug. 21 to Sept. 7 enforcement period, more than 219 occurred during Labor Day weekend alone.
During the same period last year, 663 people were arrested for DWI. During the “Drive Sober” campaign, Troopers also issued 47,359 tickets, up from more than 46,500 in 2014: 18,660 for speeding, 1,613 for distracted driving, 2,522 for child restraint and seatbelt violations, and 556 for failing to “move over.”
Additionally, troopers investigated a total of 2,973 crashes during the 20-day period, compared to 2,940 last year. Of these crashes, 857 people were injured, and 25 people were killed.
