CANTON -- Trooper Michael D. McCarthy has been honored by Canton-Potsdam Hospital for saving the life of a Norfolk man in January.
Canton-Potsdam-Hospital Chief Operating Officer Linda Summers presented McCarthy with a plaque recognizing his actions that saved the life of 48-year-old Robert E. Queor of Norfolk.
On Jan. 14, McCarthy responded to River Road in Norfolk for a report of an unresponsive male who was not breathing.
When McCarthy arrived on scene, he found Queor lying on the floor with Norfolk Police Officer Brian Zimmer performing CPR.
McCarthy applied used the defibrillator from his patrol vehicle to resuscitate Queor.
He used the device to administer a series of electrical shocks to reestablish heart rhythm.
