The annual Tri-Town Festival will return Aug. 1-3 with a variety of new and classic events, games and contests.

This year the Tri-Town Festival committee’s theme for the event is Super Heroes and Villains. There will be a parade, fireworks, a carnival, sports and fishing contests and an eating contest.

“New this year there will be a 5K walk/run for autism at the arena,” said Jodi White, event organizer.

The 5K Color Walk/Run for Autism takes place Saturday at the Tri-Town Arena parking lot at 8 a.m. and costs $20. Proceeds benefit the Puzzle Piece Foundation. To pre-register, call 704-728-6309.

On Friday for kids there will be a sidewalk art contest, kids golf tournament and super heroes and villain stories in the park. Adults can enjoy food, wine slushies, live music and more on Friday.

“Fireworks sponsored by the Town of Brasher will be held at dusk at the high school,” White said.

Activities on Saturday will feature a parade at 11 a.m., carnival with games and bounces houses from noon to 3 p.m. and eating contests.

The “Getting it Done Obstacle Challenge” will return Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m. The event is geared toward children with disabilities and people with wheelchairs, crutches and vision or hearing impairments are encouraged to participate.

“There are things like bowling and shooting a balloon with water. Everyone seems to enjoy it…so it is returning,” White said.
