CANTON -- Trailing by 400 votes with little time left in SUNY's "Mascot Madness" competition SUNY Canton is aksing everyone to cast a vote before the noon deadline.

Roody the Roo, SUNY Canton’s mascot, has advanced to the third round of the “Mascot Madness” competition, placing him among the top eight SUNY mascots.

The mascot competition will decide which SUNY mascot is the voter favorite.

Roody made it through the first two rounds of voting and now faces Rambo the Ram from Farmingdale State College.

Roody beat out Alfred state’s mascot in the first round, followed by Oneonta in the second round. Roody was the 20th ranked mascot prior to beating out the fourth ranked Oneonta red dragon 7,326 to 6,116 in the second round.

The voting between Roody and Rambo has been neck-and-neck, with the lead changing hands several times in recent days.

Roody fans can vote at blog.suny.edu/2013/03/suny-mascot-madness-round-3/ until noon Friday, March 22.

If Roody wins this round he will advance to the final four of the mascot competition.
