GOUVERNEUR – Nearly $400,000 in state funding is going to the Town and Village of Gouverneur for consolidation of their wastewater treatment plants.

The New York Department of State grant, for $396,000, is part of a program called Local Government Efficiency (LGE) grants, for local governments that collaborate to achieve operating efficiencies and savings goals.

The funding for Gouverneur is part of a round of $4 million in grants for local governments throughout New York State to study and implement initiatives to streamline operations and ultimately save taxpayer money.

“These grants play a central role in our efforts to empower municipalities to increase efficiency and reduce costs for taxpayers,” Gov. Andrew Cuomo said. “With our support, local governments across the state are pursuing innovative approaches to their core operations. This ultimately enables local officials to more effectively control costs and reduce taxes levied on home and business owners in their communities.”
