POTSDAM – A property tax break for Cold War veterans in the Town of Potsdam has been extended indefinitely.

The 15 percent reduction in assessments was instituted in 2009 for a 10-year period, but the Town Council decided to extend it for as long as qualified veterans owned qualifying land.

At their February meeting the council decided to hold a hearing, required to amend town law, at the March meeting, which was done Tuesday night. No one from the public rose to speak on the question.

After the hearing, the councilors voted unanimously to make the amendment, making the provision permanent.
