MASSENA -- The town will spend $74,000 in contingency and fund balance to buy a new Trane brand chiller for the Massena Public Library.
Town Highway Superintendent Frank Diagostino said the old one still works but there’s no way of telling for how long.
The board debated pursuing grants, but Diagostino noted there is a six- to eight-week period to take out the old system, install the new works and get it up and running.
“I don’t think we’ll get a grant in two months,” Councilman Tom Miller said.
Town Supervisor Joseph Gray said either town or library officials can look into getting a grant after the fact.
