MASSENA -- The Town Council will hold a May 17 public hearing for a local law to enact landing fees at Massena International Airport.
Town Supervisor Joseph Gray said the town would receive a payment for each landing with a variance for the size of the aircraft.
“It isn’t enough it’s going to dissuade anybody from coming to our airport but it will generate a little more revenue,” Gray said at the Wednesday town board meeting.
“All the airports around us charge landing fees. We’re not unique,” Councilman Albert Nicola said.
“We’re actually behind,” Gray said.
The hearing will be at 5:30 p.m. May 17 in the second floor boardroom in the town hall, just prior to the regular monthly town meeting.
