COLTON -- The Town of Colton’s Winterfest Planning Committee has begun planning the town’s 2015 Winterfest Weekend. The festival will be Friday, Jan. 23 through Sunday, Jan. 25. The theme ‘Color Me Colton’ will be highlighted through the quilt show and other outdoor and indoor activities leading up to and during the weekend.

The committee, chaired by Colton town board member Grace Hawley, plans to finalize the schedule by mid-December. Any organization, business, group or person planning to organize a Winterfest activity needs to contact Scott Muller who can assist in filling out an event form for scheduling and publicity purposes. He can be reached at 244-9956.

Each year Winterfest activities support the Neighborhood Center serving Colton, Pierrepont and Parishville. A silent auction will be held at the Colton Methodist Church both Saturday and Sunday during Winterfest Weekend. Artists, crafters, collectors or others wishing to contribute items for the silent auction should contact Judy Brassard, 265-2566 or Shirley Gardner, 386-2103.

The town recognizes its Citizen of the Year during the Winterfest concert on Saturday night. The award honors a town resident who is an active volunteer and who exemplifies the adage “neighbors caring for neighbors.” Anyone wishing to nominate someone should contact Grace Hawley, 262-2439 no later than Dec. 1.

The town’s next Winterfest Planning Committee meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Colton Town Hall, 94 Main St. All those interested in organizing Winterfest activities or being involved in planning can attend.

More details will be publicized as plans develop, including postings on the Town of Colton website, www.townofcolton.com, and Facebook page.
