Today is last day to register to vote in Sept. 14 primaries

Today, Aug. 20 is the last day to register with the county Board of Elections if you want to vote in the primaries Sept. 14.

It is also the last day for applications mailed in for registration or enrollment to be postmarked in time for the primary.

The St. Lawrence County Board of Elections has listed other requirements and the deadlines:

• Aug. 25: Last day for change of address notification to reach the Board of Elections to be effective for the primary election.

• Sept. 7: Last day to apply by mail for an absentee ballot for the primary.

• Sept. 13: Last day to deliver absentee ballot application or apply in person for an absentee ballot for the primary.

• Sept. 14: Absentee ballots for the primary must reach the Board of Elections by the close of the polls on Primary Day, except that ballots postmarked by the U.S. Postal Service not later than the day before election may be received until the seven days after the primary (Sept. 21).

• Sept. 14: Primary Election Day; Polls open noon to 9 p.m. throughout the county.

• Oct. 8: Applications for registration by mail must be postmarked not later than this day.

• Oct. 13: Last day for notification of a voter’s change of address to reach the Board of Elections to be effective for the General Election.

• Oct. 23 (Saturday): Board of Elections, Court St., Canton, open 9 a.m.-noon for issuing absentee ballots.

• Oct. 26: Last day to apply by mail for absentee ballot for General Election.

• Oct. 28: Board of Elections office remains open until 7 p.m. for issuing absentee ballots.

• Oct. 30 (Saturday): Board of Elections office open 9 a.m.-noon for issuing absentee ballots.

• Nov. 1: Last day to deliver absentee ballot application or apply in person for an absentee ballot for the General Election.

• Nov. 2 Absentee ballots must reach the Board of Elections by the close of the polls on Election Day; except ballots postmarked by the Postal Service not later than the day before election may be received until seven days after the election (Nov. 9)

Nov. 2 is General Election Day. Polls will be open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. throughout the county.
