OGDENSBURG -- Tobacco Free Communities is hosting an art contest for their “Kick Butts Day.”

They say the event is dedicated to helping people quit smoking and to emphasis the effects of smoking and secondhand smoke.

Students between ages 10 and 18 can create a piece of artwork that emphasizes “the deadly effects of tobacco on our local communities or how tobacco companies directly target youth,” a release from TFC says.

Students can create pieces such as a picture, cartoon, poem, short story or song.

A winner will be selected from two age groups, 10 to 14 and 15 to 18.

The winners will be chosen on March 16.

Submission deadline is March 15.

The winner’s artwork will be submitted to the paper and displayed at the Seaway Valley Prevention Council.
