POTSDAM – Many Time-Warner Cable customers in St. Lawrence County are without service this morning after a CSX train clipped one of their cables near Potsdam.
Time Warner spokeswoman Stephanie Salanger said the reports she is getting indicate that customers in Canton, Potsdam, Ogdensburg, and Gouverneur service areas could have all or some of their television, telephone, and Internet service interrupted by damage to a fiber line along the CXS tracks near Potsdam.
Salanger aid Time-Warner engineers are standing by to go in and repair the line.
“We’re waiting for the all-clear from CSX. Our engineers are waiting and ready,” she said.
She said the outages were intermittent, “and they vary by area.”
Salanger said there was no estimate yet on how long the outages will persist.
There is no word from CSX yet on how the incident occurred or how long it will be before Time Warner is cleared to go in.
