Thunderstorms possible in St. Lawrence County as cold front approaches

A cold front will move slowly across the St. Lawrence Valley today bringing possible thunderstorms with gusty winds widespread showers and widespread showers that will linger into Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are likely today with a 90 percent change of rain. Highs will be around 73. New rainfall amounts of between a half and three quarters of an inch are possible.

Tonight showers and thunderstorms are predicted before 11 p.m. with a change of showers through Wednesday afternoon, NWS says. Lows will be near 60.

Highs Wednesday will be around 70 with an overnight low around 57.

Fair weather is forecasted for Thursday before another cold front moves into the region bringing the chance for a few meow showers on Friday and Saturday. Skies will be cloudy early before the sun peaks out to raise temperature to 76, NWS says.

The forecast for the rest of the week is as follows:

Wednesday

A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. West wind 7 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night

Mostly cloudy, with a low around 57. West wind 3 to 6 mph.

Thursday

Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 76. West wind 5 to 11 mph.

Thursday Night

A 30 percent chance of showers after 2am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 61. South wind around 8 mph. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday

Showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 79. Southwest wind 10 to 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Showers likely, mainly before 8pm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 62. Southwest wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Calm wind becoming northwest around 6 mph in the afternoon.
