The National Weather Service is warning of scattered showers and thunderstorms developing across northern New York by early this afternoon with possible stronger storms capable of producing hail up to one inch in diameter and localized wind gusts to 50 mph.

Strong winds with the storms could cause isolated power outages and a few tree limbs to be blown down, weather forecasters say. They also warn of lightning and the potential for locally heavy downpours.

The threat will decrease tonight, but some storms could linger into the evening. Some patchy fog could develop overnight, with lows near 50 degrees.

There is a 30 percent chance of showers developing Saturday night, but skies will be mostly clear through Monday night. Meanwhile under sunny skies, temps will reach a high near 72 degrees Saturday.

Sunday, we can look forward to sunny skies and highs near 80.

The clear skies through Monday night give way to clouds and the chance of rain Tuesday and Wednesday.
