POTSDAM – Three people from Ogdensburg have been charged by St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s detectives in connection with an alleged methamphetamine-making operation in the Town of Potsdam.
Bobby J. Lafave, 43, and Summer D. Smith, 39, were charged with unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine, a class D felony, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument which are both class A misdemeanors, deputies said.
Bruce L. Nichols, 27, was charged with fourth-degree criminal facilitation, a class A misdemeanor, deputies said.
The arrests stem from an investigation and execution of a search warrant conducted by the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force that included members from the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, Ogdensburg City Police Department, New York State Police Narco Unit, Gouverneur Village Police Department, and the New York State CCSERT, deputies said.
Lafave and Smith were arraigned in Town of Morristown Court by Justice James Phillips and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bail bond and are due back in court at a later date, police said.
Nichols was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Potsdam Court on Nov. 1 to answer to his charge.
The investigation is ongoing with further charges pending, the Sheriff’s Office says.
