Three from Ogdensburg charged in meth manufacture case

OGDENSBURG -- Three Ogdensburg residents have been arrested on charges stemming from evidence of methamphetamine production found in a car during a vehicle stop.

Ogdensburg City Police Department patrols conducted a vehicle stop in the city on Saturday, July 15.

“During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that there was a duffel bag in the back seat of the vehicle that contained several one pots and components used for the manufacture of methamphetamine,” a press release from OPD said..

The vehicle was towed back to the Ogdensburg Police Department and the New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team (CCSERT) was requested to respond.

As a result of the investigation, charged were:

• Kurt M. Bjork, 29, 1004 Ogden St., third degree unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine, a D felony, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, an A misdemeanor

• Michael B. Jones, 30, 402 Main St., seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, second-degree criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, all A misdemeanors

• Jessica A. Mendenhall, 28, 615 Morris St., third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, a misdemeanor.

Bjork, who is currently under the supervision of New York State Parole, was arraigned in Ogdensburg City court by the Honorable Judge Gary Alford and was held on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond and sent to the county lockup..

Jones was arraigned by the Honorable Judge Gary Alford and was released under the supervision of the St. Lawrence County Probation Department.

The Ogdensburg Police Department was assisted by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Drug Task Force, New York State Parole, and the New York State Police CCSERT.

Further charges and arrests are possible in the case, according to police.
