The Potsdam Ice Storm girls 16U team leapt to a 4-0 first period lead to beat the Princeton Tiger Lilies by a final score of 9-1 in their second-round game at the Tier II national championships in San Jose, Calif. With that and their win on Wednesday, the girls have clinched a spot in the playoff round Saturday.
Today, they play the team from Grand Rapids, Mich. this afternoon, which will determine seeding.
The St. Lawrence Thunder 14U girls, having lost their first game Wednesday, bounced back Thursday with a 2-0 win over the New Jersey Colonials in San Jose.
They play the Nashua (N.H.) Panthers this morning.
And the St. Lawrence Thunder 14 U boys racked up a big second win of their tournament in Charlotte, N.C. to move to the top of the division standings. The victims were the Montgomery Blue Devils, who fell to the Thunder 13-1 Thursday. The Thunder beat the Pittsburgh Predators 4-3 on Wednesday.
They play against the Denver University Jr. Pioneers this morning.
