Three North Country residents were charged Wednesday with arson following two separate investigations of fires that were first reported to state police in May.

Remington E. Bell, 18, Richville, was charged with two counts third-degree arson and two counts of fourth-degree conspiracy at 12:50 p.m. at 2683 U.S. Highway 11, troopers said.

Robert J. Bell, 20, Richville, was charged with two counts of third-degree arson, two counts of fourth-degree conspiracy and third-degree tampering with a witness: false testimony, officers said.

Nicholas D. Simmons was charged with third-degree arson at 4:29 p.m. at the police station, 1005 U.S. Highway 11, officers said.

His status was listed as held. Police did not report the arrest status for Robert and Remington Bell.

All charges are felonies, officers said.

The arson incidents were allegedly reported May 19 and 23 and occurred in Gouverneur and Fowler.

Earlier this month state police charged three other St. Lawrence County residents stemming from the same fires.
