NORWOOD -- The “Three Bears” memorial bench was dedicated Seaway Career and Technology Education Center and Adult Education staff to a former employee who worked there for 30 years.
The bench was dedicated to Gail Jenkins of Chase Mills on Nov. 17. Jenkins passed away in February. She spent time in various secretarial offices, including working for the principal and transferring with her to the main office in Canton before retiring.
This was a project built through generous donations from Rick “Bear” Enslow who provided the logs, carver Terry McKendree who gave his time and talent, Clark Porter of Junction Building Supply who provided the paving stones, and monetary donations of faculty, staff and administration.
Students of the Natural Resources Management Program prepared the site and laid the brick, assembled the bench, and planted the pine oak which stands behind the bench where it can be seen by all who come to the center.
“With the guidance of the committee of John Morgan, Julia Colbert, Tracey Haggett-Sloan and Mary Ann Ashley, “Three Bears” will serve as a lasting memorial to the dedication of the friend and colleague we honored,” Ashley said in an email.
