State police are today reporting two vehicle accidents in the Gouverneur area in which people were hurt, and another accident last month in Colton which resulted in injury.

At about 11 a.m. today, troopers responded to a report of a personal injury motor vehicle accident on Main Street in Hailesboro, in the town of Fowler.

A 2012 Dodge Ram pickup truck operated by 67-year-old Ronald J. Hartle of Gouverneur was westbound on Main Street when his vehicle crossed over into the opposite lane and struck a 2012 Toyota Sienna operated by 38-year-old Laurel C. Bartholomew of Hailesboro, who was eastbound, according to troopers.

Bartholomew and a 1-year-old passenger in her vehicle were transported to Gouverneur Hospital. Bartholomew reported chest pain and dizziness to rescue on scene.

Hartle was uninjured. He was ticketed for failure to keep right.

On Wednesday at about 11:45 a.m., an accident occurred on U.S. Rt. 11 in the Town of Gouverneur when a 2004 Buick Century operated by 56-year-old Larry H. Briggs of Canton was southbound and ran off the road, hitting a mailbox owned by Blevin’s Ford dealership, according to troopers. Briggs’ vehicle then came to rest in a snow bank.

Briggs was transported to Gouverneur Hospital with neck and back pain.

He was ticketed for moving unsafely from a lane and having an open container of alcohol with him.

Further charges may be pending the results of a blood test, police said.

A Potsdam woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a personal-injury accident on State Highway 56 in Colton on March 2, according to state police.

Canton-based troopers said they charged Renee M. Hassett, 42, at 7 p.m. that night with first-offense DWI: alcohol or drugs, and failure to keep right.

Police did not provide details on injuries.

Hassett was released to a third party, officers said.
