CANTON -- No bomb or evidence of a bomb was found after a threat scribbled on a bathroom stall forced the evacuation of Canton Central School this morning.

A statement from Superintendent William Gregory's office said "no threat was found" after bomb-sniffing dogs and investigators from the village police, state police, and sheriff's office made a thorough search of the building.

"A report by a Canton High School student to principal Mark Passamonte of a scribbled bomb threat on a stall wall in a girls’ bathroom precipitated an evacuation of the school and a concerted response by area law enforcement agencies," the statement said.

Once the search was complete, faculty, staff, and students were let back into the building to resume classes.

"The matter has been turned over to the Canton Police Department for investigation," the statement said.

"Canton Central School wishes to thank all law enforcement personnel for their timely and effective response," the statement concluded.
